I listened to WQXR-AM in 1955 on a Crystal Radio I built, when I was a kid. 50, 000 watts 3 miles away comes in real well!

I started listening when it was 96.3 on the dial in 1999 and it was the radio station of the New York Times

I started listening as a newborn baby in the early 2000s; I come from a LONG line of listeners (my paternal grandparents each played on the station when they were kids in the ‘50s and remain avid listeners to this day). I vividly remember the switch from 96.3 to 105.9 (I was in elementary school at the time), as well as Westminster Chimes always being played at 8:00 (followed, of course, by the first movement of the Karelia Suite).

WQXR is truly a part of my family — we always bond over it. Thank you for all of the joy and memories you bring to me, my family, and every listener each and every day and night.
