2023 Budget Planner Set Up

Setting up my budget planner for 2023 using The Budget Mom's Budget by Paycheck and Happy Planner.

Can I suggest one thing??? I think what would work for you is the TUL system. It's a disc system that gives you all the "guts" to create a disc planner. You can buy a leather cover, discs, dividers, filler paper... several items to set up a planner. That way, you don't have to get rid of the guts of your planner. Lol.

You've inspired me to pick my physical planner back up! YNAB was making me lazy, but I do like reflecting at the end of each month and refocusing my goals.

Nicely done! I reuse the HP Tab pages that I don't need....Just cut off the month tab and tape the quote page onto the back of the January tabbed page (instead of taping TBM page to it). That way you have 3 quotes in a row. I love the decorative pages with TBM quotes also. Of course, you can also just cover over the dates for any other year (I just use number stickers), but you should reuse them!😃❤

I use YNAB and TBM as well and have always struggled with tracking and such but love the future planning and recap information that TBM has. So glad to have found you sharing the same kind of setup/process!

Do you have a long term emergency fund goal? I understand your goal is $2k this year which is a great start but what’s the ultimate goal for a fully funded emergency fund?

I’m also using a Happy Planner classic size for 2023. The last 2 years I’ve purchased the actual workbook by TBM but I’m not going to be using her products for 2023. I’ll miss it but I’m not excited about the digital downloadable version of her product. Great video Becky! I also saw Becky Budgets video. 😊 So you’ll be using YNAB and this Happy Planner set up too?

I would just use the overall YNAB categories since YNAB will already provide those figures with its (or toolkit reports). Don’t breakdown to sub categories.

Also, don’t forget to save money for cruise tips. You’ll need cash for that - they give you envelopes in the last 2 days of the cruise and can add on about $200 to your cruise total.

I use ynab. But, I boughtthe happy planner retro budget book at Michael’s during Black Friday. (There was an mixup on my order and the amount was refunded to me even though I picked it up. So it ended up being free)
I haven’t used a planner for budgeting but I want to get more intentional about my spending.
