I've been wondering how to do this for the past couple of hours. This video helped me figure out what I needed to to stream a Bluray disc from one machine to another using VLC 2.1.4. Thank you very much Tanya.

@Jackie00100 Yes, there is an option to stream with DirectShow. Thus you can select proper video device to stream (and audio too), so you can combine something like that.

It's pretty much the same when there's only one client.
For multiple clients, multicasting is a Good Thing, but most home networks don't support it AFAIK.

This is exactly what I was going to write. I can't fathom what problem this video is solving, unless you're at work and don't want to expose your files to unwanted prying eyes. Although, if you both are watching an episode of "Game of Thrones" the whole question is moot as you're both likely to be soon receiving pink slips from your boss.

The stream uses your WiFi to share data. So, it can cost you bandwidth. You can however use a network cable and a switch/router to connect your devices, that goes a lot faster. I do this myself and i can stream HD.

@wickedbloodyvamp just open up the port then use the outside ipaddress then colon then the port or if you get a dydns or a no-ip you can just give your friends that

much better if you share your files across the network, so other pc's can "see" them, and play them "localy" but taking the data from network pc, you have the full
but VLC is in some times the only option to send media from one place to for video...

But towards the end of the video you dropped a little surprise: This solution is not optimal for HD streaming. Do you have any recommendations to stream HD videos from one computer to another?

Does streaming use internet like bandwidth or they just transfer the file wireless like Bluetooth?!

Very good tuto but how to do it with vlc 1.0.1 version coz the interface is completely different?.
Please I need a step by step explanation with 1.0.1 version.
