Having made a dude who won a strong man competition cry -- or at least get misty-eyed -- is something that I should put on my authorial resume.😊In all seriousness, I am deeply grateful that you gave The Edan Trilogy a shot, Tom, and I'm very honored and happy that Return to Edan (and especially Seren) spoke to you enough to warrant a mention in this video alongside some incredible books by some very accomplished authors.

Hahaha love the drawing!!! Great list! One of my favorites of the year was The Spear Cuts Through Water. Make sure you add it to your extensive TBR 😅

Wow what a huge year of King for you! I overlapped on Pet Sematary and def need to catch up on some of these others like Misery and Cujo. Can't wait to continue the Edan trilogy too after bk 1 and try out Five Warrior Angels. Awesome vid!

Awesome stuff, Tom!

I'm reading Edan book 2 right now and loving it. Glad to know you liked book 3 even more!
Really need to get in on this Empire of the Vampire stuff!

I also read Pet Sematary this year. My first King experience and it was really good! Some of the more surreal elements towards the end didn't quite work for me, but I'm happy it was such a hit for you!

Good content . I am about to start Empire of the vampire. Currently reading Sun Eater and Faithful and the Fallen. I like to give a little time between each book of a series. I think I completely DnF Stormlight Archive because I was reading them back to back

I'm so happy that Brian Durfee's book is on here. I've never heard anyone talk about it.

Hey Tom. Happy Holidays. Def adding Jenny Wurts to my TBR. Sounds great! Absolutely loved Misery! I just read it in October and it exceeded my expectations. I’ve always been a fan of the movie so wanted to read the book as well and I wasn’t disappointed. I also read Pet Sematary and Salem’s Lot this year as well. Cujo is def on my list. Great video Tom. Thx.

Good list. Totally agree with your Return to Edan thoughts and Stephen King comments.

Wait you're not a cowboy in the Wild West? Could've fooled me 🤣
No but really, love this list and can't wait to check some of them out myself after all your gushing. Especially Edan and Forgetting Moon have been lingering on my TBR for wayyyy too long. Here's to finding more faves next year, cheers!

I really enjoyed your selection. It's been a Stephen King year for me, as well. It had been years since I'd read any books by him and I'm really glad I've returned to them. Pet Sematary is in my top five favourite reads for 2024. It left me emotionally shaken. The grief in the story is so profound that you can barely breathe. Therein lies Stephen King's major writing talent. He shines when it comes to character development. The people in his books are so alive that you can't help but become emotionally attached to them. You worry about them. You fear for them. You grieve with them. You get drawn into their world and become a part of it. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, we have very different top 10 lists. Although, I will say that The Well of Ascension squeaked in the 10th spot for me.

A light romantasy that made my list is Divine Rivals - if you want to get more into your romantasy era in 2025, I think it is one you will like. It is an urban fantasy and feels like a historical fiction, but really well written.

I got really into CJ Cherryh this year. Read Downbelow Station at the end of last year and was really impressed so went on to read 9 more of hers this year. 40, 000 in Gehenna was my favorite

I am so happy to see Misery so high on the list! The movie is amazing, Kathy Bates is too good as Annie, I hope you enjoy it when you get around to watching it.

Edit: just saw your number 1 and ahhh that’s my fav King ever! Great top 10 list

«Return to Edan»!😎🙌

As I have still a couple of books left on my dock, a temporary leaderboard would be:

1)Split: «Imperium» by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction, book #1 in Cicero Trilogy about the Eponymous Roman Statesman) & «A Brightness Long Ago» by Guy Gavriel Kay (Fantasy inspired by the Mercenary Wars of Renaissance Italy)

2)«Når landet mørknar» (Approximately «When The Land Darkens») by Tore Kvæven (Historical Fiction set during the 13th Century end of the Norse Settlement of Greenland, think of it as a Norse John Steinbeck novel, winner of the Brage Prize for Best Norwegian Novel in 2018)

3)Split: «To Green Angel Tower» (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, #3) by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy) & «The Warrior Prophet» (The Prince of Nothing #2) by R. Scott Bakker (Grimdark/Dark Epic Fantasy inspired by the Crusades, Silmarillion & Dune)

4)«Howling Dark» (Sun Eater #2) by Christopher Ruocchio (Space opera)

5) Split: «Sword in the Storm» & «Midnight Falcon» (Rigante #1 & #2) by David Gemmell (Heroic Fantasy/S&S inspired by Celtic Britain and the Roman Invasions of Julius Ceasar, can be read a two part novel or stand-alones)
