Cruelty is the point. This is not Normal for the 21st century. It's just cruel.

The infant died horrifically and the family are emotionally devastated for life. A sick, sick change in law.

Note to Texas Republican Politicians: You are not doctors; you have not examined the patient. Stay in your lane.

This is the scenario that isn’t talked about enough.

Babies being born, only to suffer, and then die.

While the family has to watch helplessly then live with the pain for the rest of their lives.

No one chooses to be in these types of situations.

It’s not the parent’s or the baby’s fault.

But, to suffer like this needlessly IS the fault of the lawmakers who would never allow their own wives, daughters or granddaughters to be in these types of circumstances. They have the money to guarantee that they could travel anywhere necessary to get treatment in order to avoid what so many others are faced with.

I don’t understand situations like this. When our animals are sick and suffering we euthanize them. But it’s okay to let a baby starve to death and die?

The state should pay for the hospital costs, funeral costs and therapy costs!

My heart goes out to this poor victimized family. Legislatures shouldn’t be in charge of private reproductive healthcare decisions.

According to a JAMA article there were 255 more infant deaths in Texas in 2022 than in 2021, a 12.9% increase. In Texas, infant deaths attributed to congenital anomalies rose 22.9% vs. a 3.1% decrease in the rest of the U.S.

Politics shouldn't be meddling in medical decisions.

They don’t care about life. They care about controlling and inflicting pain on others.

And who benefits from this? NO one. Its difficult enough to make the decision to abort; why put people through needless emotional trauma?

Idk why the hospital wouldn't put the baby on a feeding tube and whatever else to keep the baby as comfortable as possible, until the end. They at least owed both Mom and baby that, since she was forced to give birth. That's just cruel to let a sick, defenseless baby starve and suffer to death. The state should at least make exceptions for families with these types of cases, and for SA. At least that, instead of doing nothing at all, making everyone involved suffer, y'know
