I Will Read Your Mind - Math Magic Trick

Some of you didn't understand, so here's the proof so all of you don't go, "OMG YOU DIDN'T GET IT RIGHT HAHA!"
Every two-digit number can be written as 10a + b. Example: 37 = 10(3) + 7
When you add the digits, your sum will be a + b.
Doing (10a + b) - (a + b) will result in 9a, which is guaranteed to be a multiple of 9.

This is a more sophisticated one... I usually come across things like:
Choose a number.
Multiply by 2
Add 8
divide by 2
Subtract the original number
Four!

i know how it works. every 2 digit number added and subtracted makes a multiple of 9. every multiple of 9 is an eye symbol.

One of my favorite ways to get around things like this is to pick a number that qualifies but was not what was intended. For example pick a number: pi, or tau. In this case it may be a bit if a stretch, but does 4.7 count as a 2 digit number? If so, you end up with a negative number with a fraction. ;)

It works with any positive number. Although the chart would need to be bigger. Three digit XYZ - {100X + 10Y + Z) - (X + Y + Z) = 9(11X = Y)

I just remembered that I first saw this about a decade ago, and it was on powerpoint projected on a screen.

When you said pick a 2-digit number, I didn't pick one, I just thought 10a+b, because you said you'd read my mind, so I thought of the general way to write 2-digit number.
Then I did what you said, subtracted a+b from 10a+b and got 9a.
Then I looked at all the symbols that are a mutiple of 9 and there it was in all of them.
