About this post…👇
🤕 GETTING INJURED IS INEVITABLE
In fact, we get injured every single day.
Some injuries are so mild that we don’t even notice them. Some injuries are deliberately induced. Does hypertrophy and muscle damage sound familiar?
Some injuries are painful, others aren’t.
Injury doesn’t imply pain. Yes, you read that right. And pain doesn’t mean you got injured either. But that’s not what this post is about.
The points I want to make are the following:
- Don’t let the fear of injury dictate your training. (Doesn’t mean you should mindlessly try stuff at intensities you aren’t used to. Key word: Mindlessly)
- Focus on how well you can mitigate damage when an injury occurs. (Example: Foot strength and ankle flexibility can dictate how much damage an ankle roll could make)
- Dive into recovery practices, and notice how quickly you can repare.
- Injuries are telling you something about yourself. Keep digging.
- “Injury-Free” is a marketing buzzword to make you feel safe.
Here to read your thoughts on this family.
Certainly a topic for a long conversation ☺️
🤕 On how I tore my hamstring…
I watched the clips and noticed my feet landing externally rotated. Thought about internally rotating them a bit for a straighter gait. Didn’t lower the intensity enough. I tried applying close to the same force to a new range of motion and movement pattern. Chances of getting injury are pretty high in that scenario. Not everything you “know” is put into practice sometimes. Lesson learned.
The practice goes on.
Have a beautiful day my friends.
