John from So. CA. I have lived in So. CA for over 50 years. Every year when the Santa Ana winds come most of us know fire is coming. What scares most of us is the fire happy idiots that start fires, then sparks from power lines, then lastly lightning. As far as the pumps not running to fill resovoirs and other issues because they had to shut power off. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If these pumps are critical then WHY did they not have back up generators to power these critical pumps in the event of power failure. Hospitals or any major location does this to mitigat power loss. That is the failure of good leadership and management. Emptying out a resavoir to fix a tear in cover is total stupidity. Leave water in it for safety and do these repairs when it is not the windiest time of year. Also find ways of repairing it without having to drain it. This is basic 101 management and leadership. We are paying someone 3/4 of a million dollars and this is the type of leadership we got. Oh by the way she was in leadership of PG & E power. The power company that lost a whole Northern CA town. Digest that.
That does not even get into the poor almost non existence of leadership and management from the governor, LA mayor and Fire cheif and their woke policies. That a whole subject in it's self. There needs to be a federal investigation into this disaster. It can not be handled by the state. There is questions about federal funds and we're they correctly used, etc. This is far from over.

I grew up in San Jose in the 1970s. One day, I looked out of our window and saw a fire. I called my dad to come and see. He stood there for a minute and explained that it was a controlled fire and that everything was fine. He mentioned that if you looked closely, you could see the firefighters on the mountain. I don't remember experiencing fires every year back then. I believe this issue started with what some call the climate change hoax.
