Should Obi-Wan Kenobi Season Two Happen?

Will we get a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Should we? As much as I enjoyed the first, I think we would be better off shifting the focus to new characters and using Kenobi as support. Here are my thoughts!

Of course yesterday an article comes out about how this season was based off the first film in a planned trilogy 🤣So that does change my argument a bit, if the writers did, in fact, have three full stories they want to tell. And it sounds like the second part was going to be about Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and learning about the Force. I admit hearing that makes me immediately more open to the idea that there could be more to Obi-Wan's journey.

I’ll agree with Kennedy here. If there’s enough call for it AND they can come up with a compelling story I’m all for it. If not, it doesn’t NEED a second season.

Touching on some of the characters can be done in other series, like Andor.

If there is gonna be another season I hope they’ll focus on Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. Love to see the training that Yoda went through in TCW in live action!

Maybe a special event like the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special or the Werewolf by Night Halloween special could work. It could be about Obi-Wan's journey of learning to become a Force ghost.

Personally I wouldn’t want a second season, would I watch it yes. My thing is they reached the ultimate climax which was him facing Vader and his struggles and grief. How do you top that in a future story?

I'd like to see an anthology series that focuses on different characters (mostly new, but somtimes established characters) that somehow tie into the larger events of the time. Sometimes the stories can crossover. I think its best to use major legacy characters in small doses (e.g., Vader in Rogue One). Doing a whole series on Obi-Wan sort of forced Disney to do more than they were ready to do. A few anthology episodes touching on Obi-Wan's journey might have been easier to manage.

Agreed. Having Obi-Wan and Vader clash again and again, would be rinse-and-repeat, and diminish what season one did. But there are those out there that wish for just that. I wouldn't mind if there was a story that doesn't involve ANY of the legacy characters, except Obi-Wan. But some wouldn't want that either. It's really a darn'd if you do, darn'd if you don't situation. The only possible way through that mind field is by having an exceptional story. Anything less than that, and it'll be a colossal disappointment with half of the fandom arguing with the other half.

Reva: She's a good character, but I do not see her as a strong enough character to carry her own show.

I agree. I’d like to see him pop up here and there. I’d like to see him in a flashback in Ahsoka about the Clone Wars, for example.

Would I want it to happen? Oh most certainly, I really enjoyed the limited series and it would be cool to see more in-between stories with Ewan in the role.

Should it happen? Eh...that's really though to say. If there is a story to be told, sure, but as it is I'm really hard-pressed to think what other stories could be told with Kenobi himself. Seeing followups on some of the characters like Roken, Leia, Haja and Reva would be neat, but I don't think I'd want them in a Kenobi show. Problem is that even with Kenobi himself it's difficult to say what stories could be told now that he has moved past his major emotional baggage. I'm personally fine with his on-screen appearances wrapped up with Rebels as the next time we see him.

Obi-Wan and Owen were on good terms at the end of the series, but in A New Hope Owen says "that wizard is just a crazy old man." Seems like they had a really bad falling out. I would like to see what happened between them.

If they crank up the overall quality and there is an interesting story arc, of course. But I think they should limit it on special appearances in the other shows and focus on those stories. Don't want Ahsoka to be only mediocre

In addition to the trilogy announcement, another fun thing that could happen in future stories: We have several canon stories about Obi-Wan as an effective undercover operator, investigator, etc. I would be fun to see him in a non-Vader and Skywalker focused tale applying these skills more confidently in the contexts of the Path, the developing Rebellion, random people who need his help, etc.

On Disney+ it did say "season finale" in the title card at the top so maybe there's hope for one.

When obiwan tells Luke your uncle was afraid you would follow him on some damn fool mission says he has more missions to deal with

I think a Disney+ original movie to focus on Obi-Wan coming to terms with everything that happened in the series and training with Qui-Gon could be the best way to go. That way, it would conclude the story without going for another whole season. There could be another series focusing on "The Path" using Kenobi as a backdoor pilot of sorts to continue that story.

I think there is a phisophical problem behind Kenobis solitude: how can a man overcome his own self beeing absolutely alone and avoiding contact with others? We need the others, wheter we like or not, to grow and be better.

Would love to see him reconnect with Ahsoka and continue their adventures rebuilding the alliance

I might be alone in this but I really want a Maul series. I know we have had quite a lot of him through rebels and clone wars but it would be nice to see things more from his POV. A deeper look into his mind and how he feels. Much like Obi-Wan we know his fate but that doesnt mean there isnt more to learn and perhaps have us view him differently through a new lens. It would be a good way for Obi-Wan to have more screen time with flash backs or even a sort of mental tormenter that he cant shift from his head.

As for another Obi-Wan series I’ll
never say never but I’d be anxious about what they would do with him.

I totally agree with you. I enjoyed the Kenobi series, but I feel that a Season 2 might not be a good idea. I don't know what they could do with a Season 2 and might overdo and screw up the overall story content. If they don't have an idea of what is going to happen, I wouldn't do it, especially when the Kenobi series concluded so smoothly. Instead, focus on other series. We got a galaxy of cool ideas that haven't been put into live action. A Thrawn series, series that focuses on various rebel groups as they survive against the Empire, an Old Republic Series (like Revan), even a starfighter pilot series (like a Wedge Antilles series), would be fantastic. Each series is a separate little peek of the Star Wars Galaxy.
