i used to wear and1’s from Walmart (extremely cheap) for track meets, and I love how light they are.

I used to run in cheap $40 shoes. I ended up getting the alpha fly for speed training and pegasus and ultraboost for daily training. Investing in better quality has relieved lower back and knee pain

Also important to note, race day shoes (at least the carbon plated ones) are not very stable at lower speeds. They will feel clunky, and on uneven terrain they will greatly increase the risk of ankle injuries.
Your average runner doesn't need plated racing shoes. Start with speed trainers, and move on to the carbon plated shoes when you mature as a runner and start to plateau.
Lastly, most of these racing shoes are designed for a very specific gait cycle, and most recreational runners do not have the same form as elite marathoners. They are made to run with a mid-forefoot strike, a cadence of around 180, and long, powerful strides. The majority of recreational runners have a lower cadence, and tend to heel strike.

idk how you are getting trainers to 700 miles my brooks adrenalines start to feel done at 300
massimopicca
600-700 miles is way too many miles before switching out and will lead too injury. Most coaches recommend switching shoes after 350-450 miles

daily trainers definitely start at like 40 dollars guys. sales exist!

Just getting into running. I needed this, thank you!!!

I'm in love with brooks. Great shoes 😀

Just buy the Alphafly 1 if it works for you, i get pairs regularly for under 100 euros here in Spain. The current 2 pairs in my rotation have almost 600 kms on them

I lost my race shoes a while back and i’m heading to districts this weekend without them 😅

Just a small correction. It's the compliant midsole foam that gives your shoe the energy return. The only roles the carbon plate plays is in stabilising the squishy foam and its shape so it can keep its aggressive rocker, technically it provides no energy return at all.

Like videos like this, simple and to the point.
thank you so much

My humble suggestion would be to invest in some minimal footwear to add to your rotation as well. It will help strengthen the foot muscles and ankle ligaments, so you can put more power into your runs. Once I added them into my rotation my other shoes eventually became obsolete and I stayed in those for the rest of the year running at pretty decent distances up to 6 miles a day.
