SER safety, you should wire in the fire button on the security keypad so when you push the fire button the fire alarm goes off and activate the fire alarm panel

They have been doing this for over a week at the hospital I work at near Salt Lake City. It’s kinda cool how they test the ceiling mounted smoke detectors. The next day we had a fire drill and I was tasked with resetting the pull station. I believe it’s a Siemens fire system with the faraday chime

Random fire safety question: my college dorm building has 2 emergency exit staircases that lead from every floor straight out to street level, which seems pretty normal. Only thing is, the doors to the staircases from the floors are locked on one side. Once you enter the staircase and the door shuts behind you, you cannot re-enter your floor without leaving through the exit door at the bottom of the stairs, then entering through the main entrance and riding the elevator to your floor. They say they did this for safety reasons so people don’t get in through the exits, but is it up to code to have an emergency exit where you can’t get back in once you’ve entered the stairs? I assume it’s legal if they’re doing it, but just asking.
