New Peugeot 5008: Is it worth it?

This is the new Peugeot 5008!

Peugeot has released petrol-powered & all-electric versions of the new 5008, but does it offer enough to tempt you away from similar 7-seaters like the Skoda Kodiaq and Hyundai Santa Fe?

In terms of the design, the 5008 is a massive improvement over the previous edition. It’s a boxy design that comes with smart contour panels across the side, along with the option of choosing a contrasting coloured roof. There are also some cool, unique alloy designs available too. The front-end design is super-smart, with a grille that blends into the overall design of the car. It also comes with the traditional Peugeot DRLs, which only help improve the front end's aggressive look.

Step inside and the interior design is a marked improvement over the previous edition. There’s a huge widescreen infotainment and digital dial screen, and most of the cabin is made of soft-touch materials. The small steering wheel helps enhance the sporty feel, and there’s a fair bit of storage available throughout.

The ICE range starts with a 1.2-litre self-charging hybrid petrol engine that produces 136hp and 230Nm. A 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid is also available, which can deliver 195hp and 350Nm. There’s only one E-5008 option available—a single electric motor that produces 210hp and 345Nm.

The ICE 5008 range starts from around £38,000, while the E-5008 starts from just over £48,000. So is it worth splashing out on the EV over the ICE? And more importantly, is the new 5008 a better choice than the Kodak or Santa Fe?! You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Just a message for anyone considering buying one, avoid any petrol engines the timing chain is known to loosen and seize the engine from 35k miles to around 60k miles at most or 60k km and 100k km.
In France there is a HUGE trial of 2500 people suing Stellantis for that rn

Just bought one, baby on the way, toddler and disabled teenager. To find a car that suits us was hard. Fingers crossed this will work. My 3rd new Peugeot though. Love them .

Sorry Matt, first time I think you got it wrong. Stellantis literally ruined the 5008. Previous version used to have 3 independent seats with isofix in the back. The front passenger seat used to recline giving a massive load capacity … all gone now, just another non-family friendly suv

Honestly, I'd still prefer the previous 5008 in terms, practicality, performance perks(especially the diesel model) and the overall integration of all its features. Except, for looks though this new 5008 - I think it looks better than the previous.
