Thing is wages are at an all time low and cost of living is at an all time high, so compared with what the average person has to spend it is much more expensive

The sad part is we are looking at this in terms of inflation not wages. I know people that still get payed the same wages compared to when the Xbox one first dropped.

From all I’ve heard, I think we need to re examine the term “top of the line”. It’s not the price I’ve heard complaints on. It’s price compared to market alternatives.

Yea this is all economically true, but that's not the point.
This was using the digital only version of the console which means you never own any of the games, and the company will charge the same price for the games despite there being no costs for making and shipping the disks, since it's all digital. They only make the program and upload it, but charge the same as if they were making a physical product.

I should note those older systems usually came with controllers, didn't have a stand sold seperately, didn't need internet, and usually came with a game

Lets mention that the ps3 got a ton of hate because of its price, and lets also mention that the ps5 disc version is $500. A $200 increase for no disc tray and slightly better graphics is insane

You can build a gaming computer for that much and it'll perform better, have access to more games and can be used for other things besides games. Yes, the $700 price tag is ridiculous.

Unfortunately in this case it has less to do with price and more of the price and performance ideals. The PS5 pro has 60 rdna2 compute units compared to thr PS5s 36, this only garners a small uplift in performance. There's also the faster ram but its only a small bandwidth upgrade. The thing is that the PS5 pro leans way to heavily on upscaling rather than proper frame generation. 2 of the 3 main reasons that sony says the ps5pro is better are simply things done in software rather than hardware, which could also be done on the ps5. This is ignoring the fact that they also removed the disc drive. As result the value proposal for the PS5 is abysmal at best.
