Sony just announced the new Xperia 1 V and this year they've gone OP but I hope you can all watch my video in combination of the spec sheets to see if this is a worthwhile upgrade for you.
This is now my main carry, replacing my old but gold, Xperia Pro-I.

If you have questions please feel free to leave me a comment and I will do my best to get back to you all!

Also give Irina a follow :)

I can't believe the footage isn't post processed, looks absolutely stunning straight out of the camera paired with a stunning model :D

This video demonstrates the improvements of Sony's camera upgrades better than anyone!

The S dynamic range....so much colors. The slow mo😢😢😢 They nailed it.
No phone can shoot slow mo without sacrificing quality meaning it shows 1080p or 4k, but the footage looks pixalated, dark and muddy.
Hats off to sony

It's amazing to see what you can do on a phone. I hope Sony continues to improve their smartphones despite the small market share.

3:20 That is one of the reason why I always love Sony cameras. It's crazy to see Sony can do it on smartphones. I've been holding off Sony's 2021 and 2022 flagship phones because of the thermal-inefficient SoC, so this one is my next phone.

Oh man, that phone is sick! 🔥 When I heard the shutter speed with Irina walking towards you, my mind was BLOWN!! Keep it up Kohki 😁

From I read, all the lenses of Xperia 1 V can do 4k 120 FPS, which is insane. 😱

I also love how natural the colors look on Xperia. Looking forward to using it

Still using my Xperia 5 the very first generation, I don't think it will die anytime soon for me to replace, but damn, this Xperia 1 V is really something else entirely.

most natural looking photos, even at night . Might have to upgrade my mark 4.

How inspiring.. A camera that is realistic- not where u look back at the photo and regret not bringing your Mirrorless is what I am desperate for. Alot of life happens on the fly and we have our phones more than anything else so this is somewhat priceless. Well done such a great video and enjoyed your commentary! Irina seems very fun, what a day

Yay, you're back, Kohki!!

The shots look really nice with realistic skin tones. The shutter speed during the burst was nutsss!!

During some JTuber live streams I've noticed lately that certain phones still have problems with auto white / gray point in cloudy conditions, especially near rivers where everything supposedly gray turns out way too blue. Same for supposedly white areas. Although that might have something to do with the codecs. It would be interesting to see early cloudy morning videos shot on the Xperia.

How is the noise level of the night / low light shots?

It's fun that Irina immediately reacts herself on you describing the problem rather than asking her what to do. Like "harsh contrasts", Irina turns her face into the sun. Real pro!

Anyway, great footage, narration, editing again, Kohki!! Thanks a lot for your hard work! Can't wait for your next one!!

Peace out!!

I decided to commit to jumping to the Xperia 1 V from the Samsung S22 Ultra. Although the Xperia may be lacking from a basic camera usage compared to other common consumer phones like the S23 Ultra or Iphone 14 Pro, as a photographer I love the details that the Xperia retains for post later on, I also love how the Xperia has better UI for manual shooting compared to others, stack that with the amazing AF and AF peeking that alone makes the Xperia a better camera experience for me versus other brands based on the content I capture. Great video! Can't wait for the phone to ship in July.

After watching so many of your videos now with the different Sony phones and models...the magic really lies with having fun and working with whatever hardware you have.

It looks great with s-cinetone. You really got the most out of it here. The output is still a little crunchy with digital sharpening for my taste, so I'd probably still get a Z-V1 instead. But as phones go it's getting there. ✨

Ahh man. Sony did it again. I wish they upgraded the other rear sensors as well, but the improvements in their computational photography are probably worth it anyways. They made quite a significant jump with this one.

Since your video on the 1 IV I got myself a 5 III for 400$ used and I've been loving it. Very few phones as versatile and speed-focused as these. And the jpegs are gorgeous, even at night I prefer their colors and quality over anything else I've seen and used (including the big boys like the S22 Ultra from window shopping outings).
I'll probably wait for another year before upgrading, but who knows.

A few things Sony should go forward with:
- Upgrade the other 2 sensors (the ultrawide especially, it's quite noisy and probably the most outdated one on the phone)
- Enable 4k 120fps HDR on the front camera
- Start porting more photo and video picture profiles from the alpha cameras, every new addition is invaluable
- Include the strap hole the Pro-I has (I have a case to protect my phone that also supports a strong camera strap for smartphones I have, but it's so beautiful I sometimes just remove it to be able to see it, Sony does design better than a lot of smartphone companies)
- Improve the video algorithms to reduce the smoothness (this is pretty apparent when digitally zooming in and it could be better, but it also eliminates noise like no other smartphone)
- Give us the ability to shoot RAW on basic mode + the new night mode
- (If they haven't already) fix the low light raw color circle + softness problem
- Increase the telephoto's optical zoom range (there was a rumor about a 70-200mm module but it seems it was false or didn't make it in the device)
- Add clipping zebras for both highlights and shadow areas on all camera apps
- Give us the option for a digital button instead of the shutter button on advanced modes (I wouldn't prefer it over a physical shutter button, that's a huge selling point, but this way you can use intervalometer apps, which is HUGE for someone like me who's into astrophotography)

That's about it. I'm very impressed and looking forward to see this sensor tech spread. Another creator made a video that included a 2000 ISO jpeg shot in late twillight and it blew my mind how there was basically no visible noise at all. If I go over 200 ISO on my 5 III noise creeps in really fast.
