If it is Bariss, or really any Inquisitor who was once a Jedi but was turned to the dark side after order 66, then it's entirely possible that it's Ahsoka hunting the inquisitor and not the other way around. Maybe she wants to turn them back to the light.

I genuinely don't understand how people can be thinking the inquisitor in the show is Ezra. There is no way they are going to go that way with him.

Barriss Offee is the fun choice & who I hope it will be but I’m leaning towards it being Shin. The scene might be the first confrontation between Ashoka & Shin before Ashoka realizes what Shin looks like & who she’s working with.

Crazy theory here, it’s not an inquisitor at all, looking at the various pieces of armor and even the lightsaber look like they belonged to previous inquisitors (the ring of the gyro saber looks like 7th sister’s to me) so maybe an imposter?

In the pictures of the new Inquisitor, and this is a deep cut, even for Eck's fans: Marvel Star
Wars Comics had an Annual / special where we see the rise of Lord Flint, and this armor's helmet shares some similarities with that
character as well.

The Inquisitor's feet are visible in the trailer and just look like regular humanoid boots. Would be weird to to change so much of the species and call it the same species - in addition to the obvious differences in armor: the helmet doesn't flare down like the naval gunner helmets, the pauldrons don't have the cog. Really, the only similarities between this Inquisitor and the Eighth Brother are they're both Inquisitors and the front of the helmet is similar.

I wanna see Dave retcon Ahsoka's inquisitor duel in the Ahsoka novel again through a flashback to this. It would be hilarious.

I really hope it's Bariss. It would be the perfect way to connect a previous character without it feeling like hamfisted fan service. Ahsoka and Bariss actually have a connection with each other, unlike Ahsoka and Luke with The Mandalorian. It would also be nice to have Nalini Krishan, who played Bariss in Episode 2, return after all these years. It's also perfect since she and Rosario Dawson are only 1 year apart in real life.

"I would never say it could also be Starkiller!"
Haha, I get the reference, thank you for that.

I really like that helmet design. I love when Star Wars (and fantasy in general) draws strong inspiration from real world weapons and armor. I think they almost always look the best and most "real." In this case the helmet strongly resembles an Italian style close-helmet or armet used commonly in milanese style "white armor" in the early 15th century. Looks really good.

One theory a friend had, that I heard nowhere else is that some of the scenes in the trailer are flashbacks. That might apply to the inquisitor scene, as well as to the Mon Mothma scene and maybe to Anakins appearance.

We still dont know what Ahsoka was doing during the OT after all.

At most I think the apple vision pro will be like youtube of netflix in the quest 2. Except instead of having an all black background, the disembodied screen will just stay infront of your eyes or just where you place it. It's possible they could have some custom backgrounds but that would likely be reserved for movies

The inquisitor's helm this time seems to be taking hints from European knights, instead of the samurai inspirations seen commonly in Star Wars. It's an interesting shift, imo.

One thing that debunks the 8th brother, is the hands. His hands have 4 fingers, two inverted for grip, while this new one has a human hand, or humanish appearance with their hands (I know its common).

In addition to the fact that it is another species, I think is quite different from that of the 8th brother. This armor is actually really late medieval looking. I looks so similar to a german Maximilian helmet from the XVI century, I FUCKING LOVE IT. Hope Star Wars continues to make medieval designs like this

Yeah in regards to the possibility of this new Inquisitor being a pre-existing character, my money would be on it being Bariss, given how much her currently known story is tied to Ahsoka personally (since the former did betray the latter by framing her for the temple bombing) plus we still don't actually know what became of Bariss after she was captured by Anakin and brought into custody. And like you said a disillusioned Jedi would be a viable candidate for Palpatine to convert into an Imperial Inquisitor, even if she'll be difficult to sway over at first (surely Bariss would be smart enough to recognize the Empire & Republic as one and the same if she hasn't been executed yet).

But I still reckon it'd be just a brand new character though, just to symbolize another piece of the old Empire that refused to fade away (just like the rest of the Imperial Remnant), and that only a trained force sensitive (like Luke or Tano since they're the only ones we know of that are still around by the time of The Mandalorian) could be able to face them directly. And one who'd be easily expendable to die with little consequence to the overall storyline.

Another option I think would makse sense is if Thrawn, knowing Ahsoka and Ezra are still alive and other Jedis such as Luke still exist in the galaxy, decided to create his own version of Inquisitors just in case he needs speciak troops to deal with Force users. It's not like we haven't seen Imperial Remnants seemingly create their own novel units like Gideon's Beskar Troopers or (possibly) the precursor of Praetorian Guards, both seen in The Mandalorian.

Ahsoka facing an inquisitor is a walk in the park.

Just literally slip the lightsaber between the rings.

He lost his hands in a fight with third sister on tatooine after surviving the fall and gets cybernetic hands usually ment for humans after going to the mod shop.
