I mean honestly, it's not That surprising. She grew up mimicking Mariah and Whitney and can do killer impressions. To me, she is mimicking Judy Garland. Or, at least, that era! So good! Also, I can't wait to see her fully blonde or whatever she's hiding under there <3

to me it seems like she's channeling judy garland's vocal singing style in the original movie, The Wizard of Oz. She not emulating old vinyl, she's channeling 17 year old Judy Garland in 1939. Her lips when she sings "finds me" move just like judy's did.
Kind of off the topic, but she was challenged to sing like a series of pop stars on a talk show years ago and did it like a skilled impressionist, she sounded exactly like all the other singers and had their mannerisms down and everything.

I'm impressed with how many people she can emulate and sound spot-on.... Celine Dion, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears... The first time I was familiar with her was on "Victorious" years ago, and I thought, " This girl is going places." (Could tell she was more powerful than the main character...) Ari's the real deal! ❤️

It’s been interesting that so many people are shocked, but it’s because she’s only to the mainstream some pop. I remember when she was on Broadway. She’s theatre trained. I was never concerned about her handling this material.

Once again, this is why she's queen. More people are only recently starting to like and appreciate her voice more but I've loved her years ago ever since the first time I heard her. She's good at doing impressions (I think that's what it's called), great at singing AND dancing at the same time. Already had a good voice when she's younger, just needed training. I knew I made the right choice when I made her my favourite singer.

Honestly, it would be weird if she sang with her "pop star voice" in the movie (we all know what happened when Camila Cabello sang like that for Cinderella 😶), so I'm happy she is really going all in for the "musical vocals".
