This August, Disney is returning to Anaheim for its bi-annual D23 event, and this year, the D23 Expo has been rebranded as the D23: Ultimate Fan Event.  Every two years, Disney takes to the stage to present and lay out its plans for its studios for the years ahead.

Here are some of my predictions for what might be revealed during the Studio Showcase:

It’s August 1st here today in Australia! This was definitely an amazing video today, Roger! I’m not expecting anything major new announcements, but I hope they’ll be a few small surprises.

Considering the fact we already got some announcements from marvel at comic-con, it just makes me wonder what they’re holding off on for D23. Things are definitely being spread out now.

With Marvel - hoping for a Scarlet Witch/Wanda production. Not connected, such as Agatha, yet one that she will be there! With Star Wars, hoping for a production (including animated) with Asajj Ventress. Everything else, from Disney, Pixar, etc will be awesome/gravy, yet the previous two will be cherry on top for me! :D :)

With Disney and the BBC wanting to continue their relationship, do you see BBC iPlayer possibly being merged into Disney+?

To recap, here all of the entertainment projects promoted at D23 2022 that have since been delayed and still haven't been released:

Mufasa: The Lion King - Pushed back from July 2024 to December 2024
Snow White - Pushed back from March 2024 to March 2025
Win or Lose - Pushed back from Fall 2023 to a likely Fall 2024 release
Elio - Pushed from March 2024 to June 2025
Skeleton Crew - Pushed from late 2023 to December 2024
Ironheart - Pushed from late 2023 to 2025
Armor Wars - Now being redeveloped as a movie for an unspecified release year
Fantastic Four: First Steps - Pushed from November 2024 to July 2025
Daredevil: Born Again - Pushed from early 2024 to March 2025
Captain America: Brave New World - Pushed from May/July 2024 to February 2025
Thunderbolts - Pushed from July 2024 to May 2025

That's a lot of projects that should have already been released by now, according to the D23 2022 presentations. Definitely a combination of the 2023 Hollywood strikes and Disney just reevaluating its content. Fun fact, the best aged 2022 presentation out of them all was Disney Branded Television, as everything shown there has been released.

I really want Disney to start adding more of their classic content, the classic ABC content, and the classic Fox content to Disney+ this year. And if they don't start doing that this year, then they should do it next year.

I'm worried that there will only be confirmations rather than surprises.

What about the Tiana series that was announced at D23 in 2022?

Yeah since there are still empty Slots for MCU films til Secret Wars they should do the Slates next week at Entertainment Panel and showcasing them with possible Dr. Strange 3, Shang Chi 2 and maybe Armor Wars but if they really have to delay Blade again it could get a slot in 2026 what would be given just 3 slates left for supporting films til Secret Wars.

Normally The Eternals 2 were part of that but that is paused at the moment so it seems if it comes than as part of the Mutant Saga in Phase 7 just like possible Thor 5, Black Panther 3 a maybe Young Avengers and some X-Mutant Film(s).

And the Shows may or may not being Part but I guess they are since we don´t have really something for 2026 and early 2027 so Vision Quest, Wonderman, Daredevil S2, Nova could come til Secret Wars.

Don´t forget Marvel will have a seperate Animation Panel for those so that makes rooms for the Entertainment Panel and there will not too much Music stuff since they also having Panels for those as well so shouldn´t be wasted time too much for such.

So I highly guessing we will get

For Marvel:
Dr. Strange 3,
Shang Chi 2 and Maybe
Armor Wars and
Blade Updates
Vision Quest
Wonder-Man
Ten Rings Show Update
Nova
Starlord Show
news on Ironheart when it will coming
Ms. Marvel S2
Agents of SWORD??? with Quake and Agent Colson and Samual L. Jackson???

since FEB/JULY/NOV slots are free for 2026 and one FEB Slot before Secret Wars in 2027 as well.

For Star Wars:
Mando and Grogu,
SW EP 10 and
Skeleton Crew and also some on
Andor S2

For DISNEY more News on:
Frozen 3+4,
Zootopia 2
Date announcing of Lilo und Stitch for Disney+,
Sister Act 3 on Disney+ Aug 16th kinda.
Update on Sword in the Stone Live Action
Next Year Freaky Friday 2,
AVATAR 3
National Treasure 3 mit oder ohne Nic Cage
Figment (Epcot) Film Update
Big Thunder Mountain Movie Update
Twilight Tower of Terror mit Scarlett Johansson
Jungle Cruise 2 mit The Rock
Expedition Everest Movie Update
Hercules Live Action Update still produced by the Russos and directed by Guy Ritchie ???
Sequel to Dischanted (maybe Mischanted as 3rd)
Third Hocus Pocus Film
Aladdin 2 Live Action with Will Smith???
Aristocats Live Action???
News on Tiana´s Adventure Disney+ Show also update to
The Princess Diaries 3 Update

We hope it comes sooner than later with our beloved Mary Poppins as Queen for retire and Anne Hathaway has to deal with it also making her daughter to a princess.

For Pixar:
Elio
Toy Story 5,
The (possible) Incredibles 3,
and or new stuff as well like Inside Out 3 early plans
what about rumored a bug´s life 2 or
Up 2
or funny ending making it a trilogy Finding Marlin to end the circle????
For Disney+ a Trains and Planes Show in style of CARS would be could be funny.
Monsters at Work S3 maybe.

If they haven´t good stuff they shouldn´t talk about Snow White in case of peeing us off again and letting if she is still in the Role talking Rachel giving her a platform like that only to say even more crap about the film and such the film is doomed enough thanks to her stupidity and their disrespect on Walt´s Legacy for that.

Since next year SW Celebration is in Japan mostly we could expecting new stuff news more likely there like Updates to Dave Filoni´s Show Crossover Movie, Mangold´s SW, Taika´s Film and Patty Jenkins and Mando S4 Possibility and or Book of Boba S2

Disney needs to bring their A-game to this year's D23 after a lackluster 2023. Plus on Disney+ all year they havent released much that is exciting, aside from the Secret Score.
And seriously, Lilo's actress was announced EARLY in 2023. I know there was a strike for six months, but kids do not remain the age they are indefinitely. She looked to be the upper age for what I would expect Lilo to be as opposed tot he lower end ALREADY at that time, and now it is even further beyond that, which means if this movie is not in the process of being made or discussed yet, what the heck are they doing over there?

Spring Pixar movie MUST be revealed. And just talking about stuff we already know about when they have to bring their biggest D23 ever is not the way to play this. Even a Hercules cast would be nice. But I think Lilo and Stitch is more important because that should be closer to coming out AND Lilo's actress will be in danger of aging out fo the role at some point, so this project is expedient.

I’m on the last episode of Regarding Nell. Not a bad series overall. I enjoy it a lot. I plan to watch the rest of the under the bridge soon too. Since there’s not a lot of new releases on Disney+ right now, it’s good to catch up on some of the more recent releases. I don’t think I’ll ever subscribe here in Australia, as there’s always to watch or even rewatch depending on my mood. But it’s all about finding the time to do so.

No predictions here (for reasons heehee) but some points....

1. The Investors Day 2020 presentation WAS literally, the five year plan, so I'm not surprised that it is not yet complete and given a year leeway for each the COVID pandemic and the 2023 Writers and Actors strikes, 2027 is a more appropriate date by which to judge it

2. As a marketing tool directed towards those that do not purposely read the industry trades (Deadline/Variety/etc), the goal is to promote products coming between now and the next "fan event" (see #3) with a sprinkling of celebrating recent successes

3. Star Wars Celebration 2025 in April 2025 in Chiba, Japan will be the "mic drop" stage for all things Star Wars, so do not expect too much at D23 (save for promoting anything being released in the next 9 months, like Skeleton Crew on Dec. 3rd)

4. Marvel is back to focusing on utilizing Comic-Cons (San Diego and New York, specifically) as promotional platforms, so do not set expectations too high, but there may be a surprise or two (more for those mentioned in #2 that "die hard" industry followers)

5. There will be mention of certain products from the linear platforms (that eventually end up on the streaming platforms)

6. There "may" be mention of certain changes to the streaming platforms
