I actually agree with him a hundred percent. In my own spiritual journey as someone who practices Christianity, I've found that I have to intentionally sacrifice my comforts and put myself through hell (isolation, meditation, dealing with my own negative thoughts, insecurities, grief and madness) in order to arrive on the other side of it which is hypothetical mental paradise (release, relief, restoration, a mental/emotional clean slate). Some people call this meditation and emotion processing, I call it prayer, as there is often times a spiritual exchange taking place. This is the whole philosophy of Christ bringing healing through the redemption of the soul/renewing of the mind. Christ is so much more dynamic than most people think. You have to be willing to risk it all and put yourself through hell in order to receive the reward of making it to Heaven. This is how all healing actually works. There is no bypassing the Hellish part. And it doesn't mean you become a doormat to others in order to earn your place. What I am describing is a completely internal process that takes place within the Self.

Hmmmm interesting. I've heard of something similar described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. That you go through a purification process of burning away of the old.
