That happened to me too and it sucked! I’ve been the lead twice in the wizard of oz and Peter Pan and whenever someone complimented me I would say “thank you so much!”.

This is the worst in like a school production, like, my school has a typically higher budget, so the leads forget that they are on the same level as everyone else, and is still a student at a middle school.

I was at a camp with my barn and we talked about this, I am not going to say I like people like this bc it does make me feel nad when it happeneds but we also have NO idea whats going through there head. Like one of my barn friends told a girl that her run was good but in that girls head she was beeting her self up because she has to be perfect in her head, (at least that is what we came up with but again we dont know if that is true) and that lead to icnoring the girl who gave her a complemnt. Moral of the story try your best to be kind to people like this because you never know what is going on in there head
