Guitar build - 11 - Dots, Routes And Neck Fitting

This is part 11 of a complete series on making an electric guitar at my home.
This time I'm planing the fretboard flush with the neck, installing position markers, route the neck pocket and pickup cavities, drill the output jack hole and glue the set neck. Bonus: fixing a broken inlay,

I usually shave the tenon all the way up to the 17th fret. The neck pocket extend out
to the 18 fret. This way It's more comfortible for my thumb to rotate around the neck.
Everything is out of my way
Sometimes I also need to have my thumb over the neck...For bending high notes.
I have more control over those notes....
i dont have a problem with my flying V or explorers.
I round off the corners so it wont poke my palm.
The truss rod goes all the way up til the 19th/20 fret...it's not going to bow at the tenon.
i usually install 6-8 neck bolt screws....The neck is also glued. So you'll have to make sure
there enough neck tilt before gluding. I recess the screw and fill them in with dows.
No Back plate...The neck isnt going to snap at the neck joint on my guitars.lmao

That's the problem with most factory SG.
The neck dosnt have enough tilt....The strings will bow the neck forward more than you think. Then it cuase all kind of wierd problems..Not enough string tension or there's too much bow in the neck to eliminate fret buzz from around the 3rd to 7th frets.

i still had to recess the bridge stud post flange to sit flush with the body.lol

The guitar actaully get put together. Action set..ect Test play for a week. Do whatever adjustments required. Then it gets taken apart for painting. I learn after my 1st glued in
neck. i actaully had to cut it out.lmao Good learning repair project. i acutally put the guitar
back together and it plays had to replace all the wood of the body
from the tenon to the rear of the front pick up bay.

I mounted the neck flat....it cause wierd problems...the action at the nut was stupid
high and still Buzzing at the nut.lol
