The Gil's Arena crew examines Cam Thomas comments that James Harden had more impact on the game of basketball compared to Steph Curry. Steph Curry had more of an impact on how teams guard people and shoot the ball. Where James Harden had more an impact on scoring and how people's handle the ball. If you look at AAU Basketball Gilbert Arenas says you can see the impact that harden had. The step back and all the moves in kids bags are from him. Rashad McCants says it is because Steph Curry can move without the ball and not get tired. Everyone doesn't have that type of energy. Kenyon Martin also agrees with these comments from Cam Thomas Harden impacted the way that people play.

Gil’s Arena every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

That's a pretty good insight from Cam. I hadn't thought about it like that.

If people really tried to play like Steph they’d be playing offball, instead most ppl try to win an iso for an open shot behind the three. He’s got a point

Luka is a great example of Harden influence

The delayed tween, the tween cross sizeup, the bump euro, the top leg deadstop. There’s so many moves harden has added to the game

Harden is one of the greatest scorers of all time, that’s why he’s mimicked. What truly gets missed is his playmaking. Dude will drop 45/10/5 causally with a team of role players. People really have short attention spans unfortunately.

I never thought about it that deeply but it's true. Harden iso and 3 point shooting is what every one is copying

You see more players with watered down versions of James Harden’s game than Steph Curry’s game. You can’t copy Steph’s game James’s game isn’t super replicable but it’s easier to strive for than Steph’s game. Hope this makes senses

Harden does and the warriors not just Steph impacted teams. Trying to mimic 4 guards and a forward. More guards means more threes.

The reason why teams shoot threes and layups is cause of Analytics and the rockets were the first to build their scheme around it what are we talking about

It’s due to the replicability of each player. Steph influenced a generation and changed the game, but players could more feasibly try to mimic parts of harden’s game as opposed to Steph

The last thing Gil said was extra true but should never be able to be done in a sporting League. They made rules just to stop somebody from scoring. Thats why I always throw in that magic is the shyt since most think about magic with his assists or scoring when he needs to, and an ultimate team player but not realizing that they changed a defensive rule just because of his ability to stop people and slow the game.

Steph curry changed the way the games played.

Harden changed the way players trained and their skillsets.

Still give me stephs influence 10 times over though.
