I used to think that everything arose out of physics, but then after studying physics and seeing how electromagnetic fields emerge out of the derivatives of scalar and vector potentials, I realized that mathematics is in fact the most fundamental in terms of abstraction. To study physics is to study 'our' world, to study mathematics is to study 'all' possible worlds.
