If a law had been given to give life it would have been, but we need grace and mercy. So Yahweh visited Isreal twice first Moses to point them to Jesus, then Yahweh presented His healing grace to jesus disciples to carry 5he fullness of the gospel to make up the ecclesia to meet 5he promises to Abraham to be that the seed was to save Jews and Gentiles

A voice crying in the wilderness is a waste of breath as there's nobody listening. Move the comma and you get 'A voice crying (comma) in the wilderness prepare the way of the lord'. This then forms a couplet with the next phrase 'Make his paths straight'.
Isaiah 40v3 makes this even more obvious A way of the lord in the wilderness and a highway in the desert.
Its the Way of the lord in the wilderness, not a voice!

Rom 8 interchanges the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ. Christ can only be in you if He is part of God's makeup.. ..otherwise you have somemthing else..
v9 interchanges Spirit of God and Spirit of Christ showing their unity... and Jesus deity... ...before Abraham was 'I am'. John 8:58

Rom 8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die;
but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

This is a fullfillment of the prophesy in Jeremiah 31:33 that God would create a new and better covenant and write his law on our hearts, changing us from the inside out... Heb 8:10
