Which Camera Should You Buy? GH4, C100, BMPC4k

It's refreshing to have someone enjoying the creative process instead of being wrapped up in getting the best camera, I still have my t4i as a B camera, also Atomos is a good way to bring up the quality of the footage. :) Keep up the good work!

Great video! It's a shame that Canon's prices are always so high, cause C100 would be my choice. What a great camera. But like you said, it is an underrated camera, so it would be nice if Canon dropped the price... Keep up with the good work!

I admire your outlook. You are 100% right. Some cameras might have better codecs, but at the end of the day if you light the scene right, and as you said....put the footage in front of people, they would be hard pressed to determine which camera was which. It's funny that the 5D Mark II was considered an amazing camera of its day and now that new cameras come out, people forget. I'm not saying that new cameras shouldn't be purchased. I am just saying that maybe our cameras should be pushed as far as we can take them, and if we outgrow them...fine, time to move on :)

Since the D3200 wasn't really cutting it. I purchased the gh2 with the 14-140 1st gen lens (which is actually really nice, the autofocus was surprisingly very good and completely silent - never considered autofocus till now) for only $400. Which is a brilliant deal in my opinion. The GH2 is still a very capable camera especially with the hacks.

I've been shooting with the GH4 for about three days now. You know what turned me on about the GH4 besides 4K internal recording? The ability to focus while shooting (something my T2i and my GH2 don't do well).

The auto focus works. The LCD display and EVF show focus peaking. Unlike you, my eyes are six decades old and aren't as sharp as they once where. :)

I use the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera, and I absolutely LOVE it. Granted the battery is bad and crop factor is something to remember but RAW is incredible!

I've been watching your videos for a while now and I think they are fantastic. I like their honesty, and the vast amounts of information mixed with your own personal experiences that they provide, while simultaneously chronicling your journey as a film-maker.

I was doing some research when I came across this video, after having just seen one of your more recent ones, and I was quite literally waiting for an apple to make itself visible toward the end. Well done NLP Jedi mind trick right there.

I wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on the micro four thirds format at this point in time, since the Gh4 is now available for pretty low, on account of the impending Gh5 release. Also the G7 is out on the market with some great looking 4k, and both the cameras combined with speedboosters are out and about, putting a lot of incredible video out into the universe.

Plus the G7/Gh4 + Metabones x0.71 Speedbooster + Atomos (Shogun/Assassin/Ninja/ Grandmaster?), would probably be everything you need to create and experiment with stunning video at a great price point too.

I feel like you're probably still leaning toward the C100, but I really am very curious to know.

I'm in a really similar position to you here; all good cameras, but none of them tick quite enough boxes on their own. I was disappointed when I learnt that only the Nikon speedbooster had been released and the Canon is yet to have a release date - hopefully soon!

c100 if you can afford it, it would seriously make your life so much easier. No audio syncing, no new lenses, high iso's for uncontrolled environments. Sure it doesn't shoot 4k, but it'll be years before 4k monitors become affordable anyways. And canon log is seriously awesome and useful.

Working with a GH4 at the moment and I absolutely love it. I'm a film maker who has worked with the Alexa, Dragon and Epic so I wanted to buy something in my price range. I don't use 4/3 lenses I have an adapter for M42 lens which are fantastic to use, old primes, and also a canon adapter. Just finished shooting a promo for a feature and we shot it on M42 lenses, 24mm and 50mm with natural light and the results were very impressive. I don't like the Black Magic for a lot of reasons, and the C100 is not great for the price range.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, bud. Soon as Metabones comes out with a EF adapter I'll probably pick up a GH4.
