Where's the iPhone & Pixel Fold?

Apple hasn’t shipped an iPhone Fold… yet. There’s no flipping Google Pixel phone yet either. But Samsung has just hit deadly number 4 — Galaxies Flip and Fold the next, next, next generation.

So, why? What does Samsung know — and other companies that refuse to sell their folders any place I can buy them — what do they know that Apple and Google don’t? Or vice versa?

Are flips and folds… the next big… bigger… smaller to bigger… Samsung thing? Or still just… extremely expensive… excessively compromised tech nerd thirst-traps — that’ll be superseded by glasses or whatever — before Apple and Google even begin?

I think it’s a combination of factors:
1. Samsung may have product diversification that allows them to easily leverage flips, whereas Apple & Google prefer a more simplified product offering.
2. Knowing the buying (budget) habits of your consumers likely suggests that the flip demographic is a relatively small niche, & the revenue generated would be a consequential shortfall.
3. I firmly believe that AR glasses will be the next mobile device revolution, & eventually transcend touch screens. Achieving svelte eyewear that is not cumbersome, will require astounding performance per watt. In this regard, I think Apple is a forefront pioneer.

An apple flip would be 2-3k they would have to buy the screen from Samsung and make a big profit

LG is the most revolucionary company ever. They came up the wide lens camera and the double screen many years ago..

((Did LG had a time machine?))

There’s nothing futuristic about a foldable phone. I believe technology future is going to be in AR or holographic displays. Not weird displays that fall in half but do nothing different or special passed that.

Anyone saying foldable isn't the new thing hasn't used one for more than a day.

There is no sign showing that a foldable phone will be the future trend.

Foldable phones are the curved 3D TV of the 2020s.

It's easier to just keep re-releasing the same phone in a few different sizes annually than waste effort on r&d.

Apple undoubtedly understands it’s customers. However, let’s not forget that there is a partnership between Samsung and Apple. I am pretty confident that the partnership outlines what Apple can and cannot do within the partnership. Why would anyone want Apple to be an Android only separated by logo? Why would Apple sacrifice its share of the market for a folding iPhone? Samsung is a much older cell phone maker that made that from factor in the early 2000’s so they just upgraded it and sell it as a gimmick. Why must tech nerds do this too

The same can be said about the IPHONE for most people living outside USA an overpriced nerd thurst trap what will be superseded by glasses

I said it before and I’ll say it again: foldables are NOT the future of smartphones. Just a gimmick to seem different and try to start a trend while getting people to overpay. There’s way too much compromise with foldables considering how much they cost.

What I have not been Abel to figure out not just with their phones is how Samsung is getting away with getting consumers to pay them for the privilege to be the R&D. customers of Samsung now for 4 generations have been buying the folding phones from Samsung well Samsung works out the kinks. Samsung did the exact same thing with their Waterwall Dishwasher that is now named the Smart Linear Wash System. they did it with their Family Hub fridge too that was in the area of $8000 in the beginning, had issues with condensation shorting the life of the tablet in the door, when the tablet failed that only had a 1 year warranty the whole door had to be replaced.
Why are Samsung customers so forgiving of being used, someone that has paid to be R&D please answer why you do this as it makes no sense because they should pay you.
