Surfing The BIGGEST WAVES OF MY LIFE!! MASSIVE NEW YORK

I drove 7 hours to Long Beach New York today to witness some of the biggest heaviest waves I have ever seen in person!! But I didn't drive all the way there just to watch haha. Gave myself a pep talk and charged it as hard as I could. Some super fun waves, a couple barrels and an overall maxed out stoke!! Hey Dude! It helps to keep your hands centered out in front of your body, almost like you are in an open handed boxing stance. That will keep your board centered and riding straight through the tube. Keep your eyes and head centered on the exit, where the eyes and head go the body follows. Just hold on going straight, hands centered, looking at the exit until the wave knocks you off or you come out! Keep ripping!!

My former barrel problem is I'd fall coming out of the tube. I was not angling my board towards shore so I'd pearl on the exit as the wave bends toward the beach. Nice work

My home break I live 5 minutes away. Back in the 80s. We had this to ourselves....lido west....Puerto EsconLIDO...when it's big....Big striped Bass and Thresher sharks live there too

Remember growing up in Rockaway Beach and surfing hurricane swells from September on. Circa 1972 remember being ragged on by other surfers on their big heavy boards because I got a 5'11" Hobie positive force twin fin. Great board. On the biggest days paddling out was a feat since we don't have the luxury of a deeper water channel except at the bay end of Breezy Point and the Arverne beach area where Long Beach peninsula stops the swell. On occasion we took the walk of shame, ocean like a washing machine with inner, middle, and outer waves and whitewater nion stop. Great workout.
