India should not depend on America. India should build strong strategic autonomy.Whether USA supports or opposes India, India should seek her own way. For so many years, when we were not economically and militarily strong, we survived and grew despite lack of US support.We should not forget that in all the wars we have fought with Pakistan, it was American weapons which killed our soldiers. US sent their 7th fleet against India during Bangladesh war in 1971. America has never helped India during our wars with Pakistan or China, but time and again lectures us on secularism, democracy and freedom, like Obama did. We should keep our relations with America transactional. If America wants us to become a counter to China, we should extract a price from America, like free weapons, pressure on Pakistan to stop terrorism, NSG membership, permanent seat in UN etc.
