This man jumped from an airplane with no parachute and landed safely on the ground.
Luke Aikins is a professional skydiver who wanted to do something no one had ever dared to do before: to jump from a plane without a parachute. To make it happen, he spent two years planning and training, knowing that any mistake would cost his life.
Luke jumped from the height of 25,000 feet carrying a communication device and a GPS for navigation, reaching a high speed of 150 miles per hour.
Due to the extreme speed and altitude, he had to wear an oxygen mask until he descended to a safer height, he then handed the equipment to one of his support team members. As his team opened their parachutes, Luke knew there was no turning back. The target was a 100-by-100-foot net, suspended 200 feet in the air, equivalent to the height of a 20-story building, and from his point of view, the net looked very small. He needed to land on his back to survive, so in the last second before impact, he flipped onto his back and hit the target.
The entire jump time lasted about two minutes and was broadcast live on television. Luke set a new world record with this performance and marked a milestone in the history of skydiving and extreme sports.
