Excellent band. I lived through that era. The Thatcher years were a brilliant time for music.

Paul Rutherford predicted the future. He said at 46 second mark they'd split up for 30 years. Pretty much on target as they just performed this month for the first time in 36 years.

I was in the audience for this episode of The Tube. My abiding memory of the recording was that the regular studio audience were these hip indie types in black polo necks and we looked like extras from Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

I'll forward this clip to Paul, sometimes he's interested in old clips...

Your channel is so great! Thanks so much for sharing your collection! I have loads of old VHS video material too! Staying up late nights to record rare shows of my favorite underground bands. I can appreciate your collection and it's so fun to see all the great stuff you've recorded and collected too!

Can understand why, in 1987 things were moving fast and needing huge effort to stay relevant and front=of-mind with so many other great bands.

0:45 - Not far off the mark, re-formed briefly this month after 36 years!

about 30 years, they were almost prophetic

I believe that Nasher, Mark, and Ped asked Pete Wylie to sing for them at one point?

0:43 somewhere about spot on. Very prescient Nash. Paul really is very calm about it, exhausted maybe. But not being a dick about it at all.

They desperately needed Trevor Horn at this point.

I really loved the vocals that Paul contributed to all the Frankie songs on their albums Welcome To The Pleasuredome and Liverpool. So much so that I wish Paul had been given a couple of songs per record to sing lead. That would've given the band even more dynamic range than they already had. I wish FGTH and the ZTT team had lasted another album. They could've released it in 1988 and took a break right before grunge started. Then reunited in 1995, picking up where they left off. With Trevor Horn, Stephen Lipson, J.J. Jeczalik, Anne Dudley and Paul Morley on board. That would've been EPIC! Welcome to the Pleasuredome AND Liverpool are BOTH in my Top 10 albums of the 80s. BOTH are masterpieces!

What Nasher says at 1:30 definitely describes Holly and Paul's feelings for each other. When he said that we all hate each other, what he really meant was that they all hate Holly. When he talked about the band need to being fresh again and looking for a new singer he meant that they would wait a few years for the scandal to die down and then Paul would take Holly's place, as they had been planning for some time.

To quote Holly, two albums was one too many.

Wasn’t he (singer)supposed to be on the Lockerbie flight? Or was that just a rumor at the time?

Nasher, the sour-faced Mark, the clone Paul were Holly's greatest enemies and hated him to the core. I bet they secretly sued him for his book or old FGTH stuff. Could Holly be the source of the money they now live rich on? Or they won the lottery or robb a bank? I wonder if something similar happened between them, like Boy George and the drummer who sued him and wants to auction off everything he owns? In any case, no one should think that whatever peace there is between them, they have always hated Holly they want to destroy him. They're still playing the victim when they took advantage of Holly back in the day, tricked, abused, treated him like trash. In my opinion Mark, Paul were lovers who conspired then and now against Holly. Holly is single, although when i ask their people trying to convince me otherwise. I hope one day someone they trusts will betray and treat them the same way! #FrankieGoesToHollywoodI

This band were noisy as fuck and not very good. I'll give them "The Power Of Love", mind. That's a great tune. Yer man holly johnson's solo career was short lived. 2 singles(I'll name them if ye want).
