One of the most popular and well-known hapa-haole hula songs. Written in 1939 by the legendary R. Alexander Anderson. Watching a hula dancer at a party, he overheard someone saying "Aren't her hands lovely?" which inspired the song.

(Original) Lyrics :

Lovely hula hands,
Graceful as the birds in motion,
Gliding like the gulls o'er the ocean,
Lovely hula hands, kou lima nani e.

Lovely hula hands,
Telling of the rain in the valley,
And the swirling winds on the pali,
Lovely hula hands, kou lima nani e.

Hui:
I can feel the soft caresses
Of your lovely hands, your lovely hula hands,
Every little move expresses so I'll understand
All the tender meaning

Of your hula hands,
Fingertips that say, "Aloha",
Say to me again, "I love you"
Lovely hula hands, kou lima nani e.
