Oakland is one of the main the commuter schools for Metro-Detroit, and this man has become a bit of a local legend in the area for his very long tenure at the school, as well as his calm mater of fact demeanor and willingness to schedule elite opponents frequently . Everyone was so happy for him the year Oakland managed to squeak into the NCAA tournament.

As hilarious as this is 😂 I like his demeanor and bluntness. It’s refreshing to see.
He would definitely garner respect from high school and college aged players that are quick to read through stereotypical coach talk bs.

I played d1 soccer at two separate schools with completely different coaches and cultures.
One was full of much more quality players but most of us just went through the motions and didn’t want to hear crap from our coach that was fake af and talked down to all of us and we won only 5 games in the two years I was there.
I transferred after my sophomore year to a school that had much less quality but our coach was a man of few words, always almost awkwardly calm, and straight and to the point.
That team had a unique hunger/desire that empowered us to better ourselves vs chasing wins and the results followed.
Lost only 4 games in my two years there, regularly beat teams we had no business beating, and advanced to the elite 8 both years and the year after I graduated they made the finals only to lose on pens
