Floods, Landslides Kill At Least 27 In South India

Flash floods in the southern Indian state of Kerala have killed at least 27 people after more than two days of torrential rain.
With tens of thousands of people displaced and several missing, the army has been roped in for rescue efforts.
Meanwhile, authorities have been forced to open the shutters of 24 reservoirs to drain out the excess water.
The monsoon which lasts roughly from June to September has claimed 175 lives across Kerala state this year and damaged crops worth almost US$50 million.
