The Ford Expedition has been a favorite among SUV lovers since its debut in 1997, originally positioned above the two-row Explorer. Now, for 2024, Ford is unveiling a completely refreshed Expedition, boasting a sleek and cleaner design.

First up, the front fascia. Ford's designers have replaced the old C-bracket lights with more compact units that seamlessly flow into the grille. The new headlights are complemented by tapered daytime running lights that extend elegantly underneath the grille, giving the Expedition a modern and sophisticated look.

Moving to the rear, you'll notice updated taillights with fresh graphics and a redesigned bumper. Rumor has it that the Expedition might feature a new split-opening liftgate, adding to its practicality. Plus, expect to see new wheel designs, unique trim options, and possibly a few new exterior colors to choose from.

Inside the cabin, Ford is planning a major overhaul. The centerpiece will likely be a dash-spanning screen, similar to the 48-inch wide display found in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. This massive screen stretches between the A-pillars, providing a futuristic feel. Below it, a smaller touchscreen, around 13 inches, will be flanked by vertical air vents.

Underneath the screens, you’ll find a row of buttons, including a rotary shifter dial next to what seems to be the media volume knob. The updated software will bring enhanced connectivity features, including access to the Google Play Store, smartphone mirroring, and comprehensive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

As for the powertrain, Ford hasn’t confirmed any major changes yet. The current Expedition lineup includes a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine with three different power outputs. The base model produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum Series offers two tunes: one with 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, and another with an impressive 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. All these engines are paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, ensuring a smooth and powerful driving experience.
