The amazing thing about Larry "Bud" Melman is that he could do anything, and he did everything exactly the same way.

It's cool that Roy Orbison was willing to do this.

Thank You for reading my message and finding this footage! Elvis was my distant cousin and even before I knew he was my distant cousin I always remembered Larry Budd Melman doing this! This is great! LOL

So funny how Larry doesn't even acknowledge Dave when he leaves

We had a recent show with Steve Winer, original Late Night Writer, and one of the guys that discovered Larry. (Calvert) You might like it. We certainly did.

I don't know if they're on this channel, but I'd love to see the bits where 1.Dave made a college kid a "big man on campus" and Paul wrote a theme song for the kid. 2. Dave conducts job interviews (I remember one of the job applicants told Dave, "You kiss my ass, cowboy!", and 3. Dave went door to door in some neighborhood and found a kid who could "honk".

As Merrill Markoe remarked, Calvin DeForest always committed to the bit. He’s no Elvis, but that doesn’t stop him from cranking it to 11.

Does anyone remember when they sent Larry on a cross-country trip or something like that and he begged Dave to let him come home? It was so mean and uncomfortable but I think they finally let him come home before the bit was over.

Yes, on the program there is Jon Lovitz. Later on, music from Patty Smyth, and writer Gore Vidal. We will be right back. (Tosses a couple of pencils)

I wonder if Calvin DeForest ever said "No" to any of their ideas.

Nothing will ever be as good as NBC Dave. Not Conon. Nothing.

I would've been a grammar smartass and offered the last letter writer a veteran or a veterinarian.

Letterman had enough money to have his hair fixed.. Why didn't he?

Thank you (NOT) to you and your producers for perpetuating the image of "Fat Elvis" in a disgusting skit! As a long time Elvis Fan, I have shed many tears over the years of disrespect the entertainment industry has leveled at this extraordinary man whose talent and originality influenced music and culture despite his illnesses, demons, a greedy manager, and being a victim of his own fame. Watch the new Elvis movie for just a little education on the subject. RIP Elvis👑
