Even funnier is the actual story WHY he got imprisoned on the way back from the crusade. As the crusader army was taking some cities, he refused to have his flag fly next to the flag of the duke of Austria up on the walls of the city, as Richard saw a duke as way beneath him (even though the duke's troops had viciously fought to take that city), and Richard ordered it to be taken down. The duke was so offended that he decided to imprison Richard when he was traveling back home, even though that violated a papal decree granting protection to all crusaders. The duke then pawned Richard off to the Holy Roman Emperor, Heinrich VI, who probably still had some sour feelings about the crusade as his father, Emperor Friedrich I Barbarossa, and his brother had both died during it. That insult ended up being VERY expensive for Richard.
