0:00 Introduction to Improve Your Balance
0:25 The Tips to Improve Your Balance
0:42 Tip #1 - Focus on Your Posture and Alignment
1:48 Tip #2 - Move Your Head and Eyes
2:53 Tip #3 - Don't Think About Balance!
1./ First - When doing balance exercises, focus on your alignment and not your balance. By integrating alignment into your balance training you are taking one more step towards reinforcing the alignment that will define you.
2./ Second - Do not fixate your eyes on one point. Most classes encourage participants to focus their gaze while they balance. This is a mistake. In real life we look around as we move. Head movement and eye movement significantly affects our stability.
3./ Third - Think about things other than your balance as you work on your balance. In life we are focused on our conversation, the podcast we listen to or the to do list running through our head. When you practice balance I want you to think about things other than your balance.
Whatever exercises you currently do to build your balance, challenge yourself. Try counting backwards from 33 to 3, take your shoes off, and lastly don’t fixate your gaze.
These and much much more are all covered in my 4 hours balance series that you can find out about by clicking on Balance and Falls Prevention below in Home Exercise Videos.
