Assad was a terrifically horrible leader for the vast majority of Syrian citizens, which happen to be mostly Sunni muslims. However, Assad doesn't interfere with Christian Muslim relationships amongst his citizens. The same was true about Mubarak - who went even further by having harsh punishments for inter-religious violence. Religious stability is healthy for not only the minority Christian citizens but also their Muslim neighbors and the economy and security of the countries. More than that, it even effects our security and of their neighboring countries. While temporary emotions may be happy about Assad's fall, the incoming regime may not be what is best for the country or others. Of all the middle eastern muslim citizenry, Syria has some of the sweetest and poorest families who have seen incredible amounts of destruction. Assad was literally bombing his own hospitals. I saw the surgical NGO relief teams reports, who fearlessly volunteered during those times. I hope that the world demands relief for those people and inter-religious stability, not more conflict and loss.
