1. Buy and then selling these on Buff or 3rd party sites (if the person isn't able to fund on steam wallet/do transactions in-game).
2. They thought the stickers inside them will make them valuable. Unfortunately, it failed and barely any stickers are valuable so they had no choice but to sell it.

I have seen a lot people do this. I looked into some accounts (mostly Chinese) and they stock up thousands of these just to sell into buff like they are their own market. Probably they make a bit of money doing this.

Third world country comment here. The ingame store currency is not updated periodically, so sometimes you can buy ingame for 0.9-0.93 equivalent usd. I also bought a bunch of stickers from the store and resold on the market/bitskins. Some of the stickers experience a bubble on the market reaching up to 2-2.5 usd. Cat call reached 1.39 on 18-Oct-21, Drug War Veteran 1.97 on 30-Apr-21

I think people hoped the cs20 capsule would disapear when 2020 ended.
This was an ok bet but 2021rolled around and it didnt happen.
So now people who held up hope valve would only sell them in 2020 are givng up and getting the new capsules wich will disapear when the mayor is over.

My theory is just in case valve decides to remove them permanently. But it's highly unlikely. Although if they did these people would make huge bank.

They arent the same price in every currency, perhaps in some currencies that isnt a loss

I saw the drop and jumped to the train buying like 6 capsules
I was gonna resell them but ended up openning 5 of them lel (not a good idea)
I guessed it was from people who bought them back then thinking they would only be available for a limited time since they were dropped for the 20th anniversary

??? People thought that the cs20 capsule will get discontinued after one year cause they thought it wouldnt make sense when cs is 21 years old and it would still be avaliable & because the cs20 case is also limited. (you can see a ton of old reddit threads about this).

There are accounts with thousands of these holdoig on in the hopes that once its discontinued the dragonlore foil will become the new crown foil.

Now it has been just over 2 years and someone started to dump them in huge quantitys about 1000 in one day cause he lost hope. (probably in order to invest in the major). This started a chain reaction of a bunch of people who bought it in hopes it will get removed from the ingame shop.


100% The reason for the JaixOP6 guy you bought from aswell. He literally has 59 storage units with 1000x of different cases etc. thats exactly the type of guy who bought these 2 years ago hoping they will remove it

They probably buy these from trading sites to sell on steam to make your money worth more
If for real money they are 50 cents and you sell them for 1$ you almost double your amount instead of just upping your balance the normal way
