HOW TO MAKE TWO WAY SWITCH WIRING WITH A MOTION SENSOR/CONNECTION DIAGRAM

Hello, welcome to our channel. Today, we are going to show you how to make a two way switch wiring with a motion sensor. It’s a great way to add convenience and savings to your home lighting. With this setup, you can turn your lights on and off from two different locations, and the motion sensor will automatically turn off the lights if there is no movement for a certain period of time.

Before we get started, let's talk about the tools and materials you will need. You will need two 2-way switches, a motion sensor, a screwdriver, some electrical tape, and some wire nuts. We also recommend wearing safety goggles and gloves for this project.

First, you need to turn off the power to the circuit breaker where you will be working. Double-check that the power is off by testing the circuit with a voltmeter. Safety is our top priority, so make sure you take precautions.

Once the power is off, let's get started with the wiring. The first step is to connect the motion sensor. The motion sensor needs to be connected to both of the 2-way switches, so you will need to run a 3-wire cable between them. Connect one end of the cable to the motion sensor and the other end to the first 2-way switch.

Next, connect the second 2-way switch with another 3-wire cable. This is what makes it a two-way switch. The motion sensor is the gateway that connects the two 2-way switches.

Now, let's get to the wiring connections. The common wire is usually the black wire that is always connected to the switches. The travelers are the red and the black wires that are also connected to the two-way switches.

You need to connect the common wire of the 3-wire cable to the black wire of the motion sensor, and the other end of the 3-wire cable to the black wire of the first 2-way switch. The red and the black wires of the 3-wire cable should be connected to the travelers of the first 2-way switch.

Next, connect the red and the black wires of the second 3-wire cable to the travelers of the second 2-way switch. Similar to the first 2-way switch, connect the common wire of the 3-wire cable to the black wire of the second 2-way switch.
