Yes, I bought another set of Schmincke super granulation watercolors, the Forest set. I'm a little bit crazy for these granulating colors ;) So please join me for a calm swatching time and see what the color in this set looks like!

I have several of Schminke granulating colors and I just ordered Forest Brown (which looks green). Was fun to watch this - like a lot of watercolor artists I just enjoy watching paint do it’s thing - no picture necessary, just paint drying. English is my first & only language and look at the improper grammar I’m using.

I have been wanting the Forest set for a while, but haven’t been able to purchase it yet. I also want the new Haze set as well as Tundra…I love granulating paints, but need to buy them over time. They now offer individual half pans as well as tubes on Jackson’s for all the sets except Haze, so Haze will be my first set. Thank you for sharing 🙃

Totally agree so many projects and I don't know where to start - so i havent done anything for quite some time 😬...I think I need to make a list and stick a pin in it
Your English is brilliant. I also love blues & purples so I will have to get the deep sea set ....this video has been so helpful TY sxx

Just ordered 5 different colors from different sets..after watching videos like yours. I had samples of the forest colors…did an experiment to try and get a certain effect. First, mixed the “yellow” and “brown” to get the dark mossy green I was looking for..then added just a TOUCH of Kuratake Gold Mica ink..this is the ONLY ink I have tried that does NOT look like I threw cheap glitter into it.
It integrated into the granulating paint adding the vibrant, smooth gold sheen to some of the granulation. Like I said, the trick to it is just adding a touch of gold. I didn’t want it all pearlized, nor did I want a metallic. I only wanted some gold highlights. I am in HEAVEN! In fact it turned out so good, my best friend and Chinese tutor are getting some to try it out! Even my western teacher was impressed, although she REALLY liked my 2nd experiment. Glacier blue & the silver Kuratake ink..again, just a TOUCH. I also experimented with some of the Sandy, light browns (volcano yellow and shire yellow) as well as volcano red, with touches of gold. I really didn’t have enough of samples for these to tell if they’d work in what I’m doing, so the young lady I got the samples from is sending me some half pans for free-she was also fascinated by the results I got and said she ordered some of that ink to do her own experiments.
I’m aware there are some paints out there that already do this to some extent, whether supervision (which have NO lightfastness, they also tend to fade even in normal light according to my Chinese tutor), or handmade paints which usually have either iridescent medium added, or some glittery pieces that just don’t look right, AND usually way too much. I’ve ordered handmade red golds and turquoise silvers..that had much more metallic than color pigment. My paintings are mostly landscapes-I just want a TOUCH of gold or silver. My Chinese tutor is currently working on characters from Journey to the West (she’s in Brussels teaching), on raw Xuan paper (extremely thin and absorbent), but thought just a touch of metallics on the uniforms of the characters (much of these “uniforms”, in the stories, were made from gold, silver or bronze. Using the ink alone or on top of a layer-was too overpowering because the gold pigments don’t absorb and just sit on top. They also tend to clump up with Chinese pigments (I assume from different binders) I tried out my experiment on raw Xuan paper for her..just like on a western paper, it seems to work great with these paints. She’s never used a Western paint in her paintings..but has ordered some Schminke granulating! 😂. She already has the ink for calligraphy.
Ok, back to practicing & finishing some sketches. I appear much more talented in doing my “experiments” than actually painting. (Maybe a Masters in biochemistry is why? 🤷🏼‍♀️😂)

No way I could wait a few days let alone a few months!! That’s some self control 😀

At the moment I already have all the sets. Just a suggestion, please try to use a bigger brush and follow this procedure: wet the paper, pick up a colour and at once do the swatch. By not going over the paint it will disperse by itself. 🤗

No way I can afford any of them but I love watching the swatching!

I think Haze is still limited edition because it's exclusive to Jackson's.
