Pentagon Holds Briefing Amid Evacuations in Afghanistan

Press Secretary John Kirby holds a press conference to inform the American public that there have been no changes to the mission or the deadline for evacuations in Afghanistan.
The goal is to have the mission completed by the end of the month. Kirby says they continue to make progress every day in terms of getting Americans and vulnerable Afghans out of the country.
Kirby does believe they have the capability to get this done by the end of the month. Kirby says it is possible that they may have to increase the number of military bases they are working with, but for now they are working with Ft. Lee, Ft. McCoy, Ft. Bliss and Joint Base McGuire/Ft. Dix. Those four right now are beginning to see a flow in SIV applicants. In the future, they may need to use more military installations.
