Stay Prayed Up

"So, as I was growing up in this teaching, I always used to hear that we should stay prayed up. Anybody else hear that? The idea is to stay prayed up, and it's really sound guidance. We want to listen, and we want to respond to the voice of our soul, and it's done best in peace and calm.

When we practice that—when we practice that, when we practice that—then when those things happen out there, and they will, we are able to come back much faster to the oneness of our knowing of who we are. You know, it's hard to repair a boat while it's out in the ocean. It's hard to fix a broken airplane mid-flight. But when we have that daily discipline, those times of fixing and repair do not have to take place in the midst of chaos and confusion because we are listening and we go, "Oh, there's something over here that needs my attention. There's something over here that needs my attention. There's something over here that is calling for some more love and attention." Dr. Sydney Lehman Steen
