[PATCHED] Get Discord’s Old Mobile UI Back & Discord News!

Discord's new mobile update is not well received by people. A lot of people hate the new UI and wish they could go back to the safe and comfortable old UI. WELL GUESS WHAT, MERRY EARLY CHRISTMAS BOYO I GOT YOU.

Using a bit of technical Discord nerdiness, you can turn back the old UI. Now I don't expect this to work forever (nothing gold can stay), so use this while you can and avoid the buggy mess that is the mobile update.

Now it's Friday, that means that this is a Discord news video. And despite Discord employees cozying up for the holidays, we still have some heat Discord experiments coming out that make life easier for both Discord mods like myself, but also normal Discord users. Also some developments on Midjourney leave questions about the future of the Discord-based AI art generator. And finally, Discord gives us all a last sendoff with a winter giveaway.

(0:25) We don't hate change, we hate the fact that they didn't test the new UI which is objectively more clunky and buggy, before forcibly pushing it out to all users.
Tell me, why do I have to restart the app to access my DM's after I tap into a server channel. Why does the lower bar vanish and never come back? Why did they feel the need to remove buttons that didn't need to be removed in the first place.

"discord users hate change" No, we just hate useless buggy updates that take away from user experience. This goes for everything: steam, youtube, reddit, windows, android.

I don't find the new UI buggy, just annoying and inconvenient. It was way faster to navigate between servers and DMs on the old layout, and I liked actually staying in the message channel I closed the app on.

I thought a lot of people were overreacting when the UI changed. So, I honest to goodness gave the new one a shot. Tried to adapt to it for a few weeks. And gosh, I can safely say, it's def an inconvenience. Thank goodness for this video.

Discord needs to use the good UI and just fix the issues without rearranging everything and replacing the old UI which was very smooth and fast with the new UI which is clunky and painful.

(0:25) I don't hate change and I don't hate the core idea behind the new UI for Discord mobile. But it's so slow ... some actions take seconds to complete. Here are some examples, after closing all open apps, including Discord:
- open Discord: 6 seconds
- open a DM conversations: 3 seconds
- going back to DMs: 0 seconds
- switching tab to servers (27 servers): 5 seconds
- switching server: 1 second
- switching tab to DMs: 1 second
Compare this to Facebook Messenger which takes less than half a second to do each action, and starting the app takes less than 2 seconds. My phone doesn't have the best performance, but it's such a huge difference to Facebook Messenger.

They have now patched this and made it so you CANNOT toggle back anymore, Kind regards from part of the community

For those wondering. It worked. However as of February 9th, 3:30PM CST discord mobile users would be booted out of discord and when you opened it back up it the new UI would be applied and the code no longer works as it has been patched. (For those wondering why I geeked out, this is my job)

Thank you for making this video! I have an astigmatism and the new discord color makes it near impossible for me to read anything on mobile anymore, plus a headache. I think most people will just get used to the new ui, just needs some improvements, but the color HAS to go back. We have midnight mode for the high contrast, don’t need to make the darkmode high contrast too, it just screws over another group of people. So thank you discord for creating an accessibility issue :)
