So 2 days ago my mom bought me 3 new bras because she said “I need newer ones” and I hate them… I haven’t put them in because one: never had a reason to, and two: I hate them… she then came in my room about an hour ago and said “I’ve noticed you haven’t tried on your new bras. Why don’t you try them on now?” I asked he if she men’t right then and there and unfortunately it was… I told her I was uncomfortable with it and she got mad and said “I’m your mother! You shouldn’t be uncomfortable around me!” And “we’re family so it’s fine!” She made me try on the bras right in front of her… afterwards she kept mentioning getting “sexier” bras for “just in case” scenarios… she then said “next time I’ll make sure to get more you like” and the words “next time” have just been playing in my head… I can’t do this again… I almost started crying while doing it…

I'm sorry this has happened to you. Even if they are your family they shouldn't have to force you to put something on that your not comfortable with putting on IN FRONT of them. Especially the 'sexier bras'. That's absolutely horrible. I'm sorry and I hope this NEVER happens again.

I didn't know people related to me in this I thought I was completely alone, no one I could talk to about it. When I was around 10, I was an early bloomer. My mother asked me to get changed, so I started walking to the bedroom to get pjs on, but she stopped me and watched as she forced me to get dressed in front of her. She was watching even as I had 0 prices of clothing on, not even socks. Then she said, "I can see why you want to hide your body. I would too if I looked like that, " that moment made me so insecure, I felt violated by my own mother! I don't know what to do, I didn't then either.

Just because somebody is a family member gives them absolutely no right to be able to see your body without permission. Nobody should be able to force things upon you especially your mother. I hope you never have to deal with this again but just know that people are there for you and we're here for you.

I wish parents understood that their children can have boudaries- my mom’s a bit pushy when it comes to stuff like this but if she sees that I’m actually uncomfortable with her seeing me in such a vulnerable decision she doesn’t push my boundaries!!
