Scotland’s coronavirus inquiry to begin by end of year

The Scottish Government will begin an independent inquiry into the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic by the end of the year, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

The First Minister said the judge-led inquiry would have a “person-centred, human rights-based” approach.

A draft of aims and principles for the inquiry was published on Tuesday, with members of the public invited to comment until September 30.

Ms Sturgeon spoke at a coronavirus briefing in Edinburgh shortly after the publication.

She said of the inquiry: “I can confirm it will be established by the end of this year, as promised, and it will take a person-centred, human rights-based approach.”

Id like to know why Aberdeen got a 3 week lock down where we were not allowed to leave the city unless for work or caring needs. Yet the cases in the central belt were allowed to rise with no restrictions, and she even said they could still go on their holidays. Double standards between how the central belt is treated compared to those in the north. Shes refused to answer this Q despite being asked many times.

And the way the govt have treated vaccine trial participants has also been disgraceful. We took a risk to get a vaccine available. And almost 1 year after starting the study we are still not registered as vaccinated. The health secretary, NS and the Scottish MHRA have not replied to any emails from trial volunteers. They are all a disgrace.
