Tributes pour in for Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison

Fans and musicians have expressed their shock and grief at musician Scott Hutchison's death. Hutchison formed Frightened Rabbit in 2003 as a solo project, but eventually it grew to a five-piece band. He spoke of his shyness as a child, his desire to express his emotions through music and his battles with depression and how he used his music and songwriting to explore themes of love, loss and vulnerability

Very sad. My sympathies to his family, band mates, friends and fans. I, along with so many others - live with a psychiatric vulnerability. Others choose to call that having a mental illness or disorder. It is in my opinion, one of the deepest closets to come out of. RIP Scott

He made tiny changes to earth

I did not know Scott Hutchison.
I only know of him what came through his songs.
Through the anguish, heartache and despair, a glimmer of hope always managed to shine through in soaring melodies.
I do not know what finally extinguished the last faint glimmer of light.
What drove him, Fully Clothed, down the Forth, Into the Sea
To swim until he could no longer see land.
Why he could no longer save suicide for another year.
His blood may have stopped but someone else’s is pumping.
Someone else’s head is turning.
If he meant by this that he believed in reincarnation, may his tortured soul find a worthy vessel.
May his next journey be just as rich, only less troubled.
If he only meant that by sharing his own struggles he could provide solace and give hope to others, he has succeeded beyond his imagination.
He has done far more than make tiny changes to earth.
