Dave was recently out of a long-term relationship and eager to restart his romantic life, so he did what most people do: He tried online dating. Liz and Cari were two of his most promising connections, both single moms with winning personalities who helped bring him out of his shell in different ways. It should have been an opportunity for this hard-working, devoted dad to enjoy a second chance at casual romance, but it turned into a twisted love triangle, putting Dave and everyone he cared about at risk. Using interviews with those involved – including the law enforcement officers who cracked the case – alongside vivid reenactments that bring viewers into the tension and paranoia of Dave’s four year nightmare, this feature documentary from Curious Films (Running with the Devil) and director Sam Hobkinson (Fear City: New York vs The Mafia), deftly assembles the pieces of a mind-bending true tale of harassment, digital deception, and murder in America’s heartland. On Netflix February 9th.

I watched it today and I’m still in shock. True stories are always better than fiction.

I'm thinking this isn't the show to watch when the new person you are seeing comes over to your place for the first time to Netflix and chill.

What a story! These 3 playing billiards near to the end of the docu are brilliant and their dedication in this case is beyond words! Actually, if I want to know more about this story is all about the surgery of the IT expert that worries me. He is literally the key to give this case a path towards clarity! If he didn’t go and intricately study all these messages and pictures- it’s all dim! I hope he’ll be ok after his brain surgery. We have few of him in this field that’s truly excellent!

It’s a wonderful docu made of the 2024! Salute to these men and their dedication! With love from Italy 🇮🇹🫶🏽

I don’t get how they didn’t figure things out earlier. Cari’s mother had reported her missing. The whole situation is so bizarre and nonsensical - the cops should have picked up on it much sooner

The moment Liz appeared on Dave's doorstep the minute Cari was inside his apartment, I knew who the killer was!

Still don’t get it why the investigators didn’t trace the IP and phone calls at the first place.

One of the better True Crimes currently on Netflix. Up there with Sins of Our Mother. 👏🏼

Without expecting it I got emotional at the very end when we saw the archive footage of Cari being happy with her young children. It reminded me of my mother, who died in similar circumstances when I was a kid. Those precious moments were taken away from us. How anyone can decide to take the life of a mother for his own ends is beyond me. I will never understand. This world is so brutal.

This is definitely one of the downright creepiest stories I have ever heard in my life. Way back when I saw the 20/20 episode I had trouble sleeping afterwards. Too bad the book wasn’t very good.

The original investigating officer was not much of a detective or it could have been solved early on.

I will forever be obsessed with the Farver case. How sick does one individual have to be? Thats the real question.

Spoiler alerts here. Okay, the one thing that is very odd to me is the original text Dave got at his shop from who he assumed was Cari (staying at his place that night) that said 'we should move in together'. If that is not an embellishment of the real first text, then we must assume that Cari was maybe already dead, and Liz was texting, no? Why text that particular question? And what if Dave had said sure, let's move in together. What would Liz's reaction be (as Cari)? Would she say I'm just joking, or would she lure Dave and maybe try and end him! That was a very strange first text from Liz (as Cari). Just my opinion. It seems if Dave had said yes this case could have gone in all sorts of other crazy places, different kind of crazy as it was extremely bonkers as it was. Liz burned down her own house and killed her own pets (after killing Cari). And then she moved out of Dave's daily life (except for the stalking and threatening Amy). I think Liz was absolutely gonzo. Humans can be and go crazy...

As soon as they revealed that the girl wasn’t heard from for a while it’s a very likely someone was impersonating her. I started to believe surely she wouldn’t do that to her animals but jealousy is one hell of a drug. These cops and IT guys are the very good side of law enforcement. Nothing but respect for them. It’s so cruel that the guy had a brain tumour. He was destined for that unique role.

Took about 45 minutes into this show for there to FINALLY be a government employee that actually thought "You know what, maybe we should attempt to track the IP address of this person who keeps sending these emails and text messages."

One crazy story. A must-watch even if you already know it. You'll probably stay off the dating apps awhile.
