I got my Ethos last month to replace my SM7B for the exact same reasons. To me it sounds like an upgraded SM7B when the pop filter is on, and when its off it almost has a shotgun mic quality. Very versatile, very clear, very good signal-to-noise ratio. Easily my new favorite.

Yessss. Earthworks Ethos is the best thing ever! And sometimes, B&H cuts the price on this for about $400. Not sure what the price is now. I have an annoying, somewhat high-pitched voice. This microphone adds a pair of nuts to my voice!

Yeah but why are you doing a piece to camera with a huge mic in front of your face? How about a good lav mic or an overhead shotgun mic. Mic's in front of your face are for radio. On the plus side I'm pleased you resisted the baseball cap and sunglasses.
