I work in sub-mm wave receivers for radio astronomy, for the ALMA telescope in Chile. We have European, Japanese, Taiwanese, and of course Chilean partners. (I have been to Taichung City, once in 2011) What I have noticed so far about the engineering research culture of US versus Europe is that in Europe they bring in lots of collaborators on most projects and the collaborators are given a photo and mini-biography in the resulting papers. In the US they get a name and affiliation below the title and that's it. And there tend to be fewer of them. Obviously I admire the European model here. I think the US has an edge in cutting red tape and getting things done fast (though often fixing things later.)
Thanks for this addition to our understanding of EU tech.

I love this quote "Part of learning what works is learning what does not."

Hope to see you at some tech conferences one of these days, but no idea if I'd recognize you xD

6:27 "transfer the wafer on to the pattern" 😮😂

Perhaps for a fab campus as large as TSMC Taiwan, digging a synchrotron tunnel to provide <13 nm light to all fab buildings might be worth it, if e-beam is not workable.

Amazing video! A dedicated video on PFAS in semiconductor manufacturing would be really interesting.

We really appreciate you presentations. Thank you.

Thanks for putting out the usual insightful video essays while being on the road even, and not forgetting to sprinkle in jokes to humour those who are bored at our desks.

Fascinating. How much did it cost to enter ITF World?

It would be interesting to hear about the greening of photoresist chemistry.... I had no idea fluoropolymers played a role since it seems they'd be hard to remove!
Cheers...

I always wondered why my new jackets and boots magically shredded water... for a few months or until washed. How does the new carpet repel water?

Antwerp is lovely. I hope you tried some of the chocolate hands.

Well, the technology that this convention is about makes it possible for a person physically at the convention not to be there in spirit.

Won't use gtp5 because it's only 95% right. Things need to be exactly right in chip design it's 0 or 1, right or wrong and if it's not 100% right, it's wrong.

I am starting to work for IMEC in 3months. Very Exicted.

You might want to check out how "panacea" is pronounced. Great video as always.

Jeeez… 2032?? I have enough trouble planning for next week!!! 😅😅😅

One of the problems with european current mentality, we are happy to throw billions at research and zero euro at manufacturing so knowledge get made, and people move into high paying jobs in the US etc and giant companies there benefit and contribute to increase their local GDP and tax bases while europe stays a decaying corpse meanwhile.

What about TSMC Japan and Sony's double stacked Exmor T sensor?
