Well, I am glad you used an anti seize on the caliper sliding pins. Delco for years, perhaps decades placed a little plastic packet of high temp brake lubricant in the box. To me, it was never enough but they are full-floating calipers. In the mid 2000’s ACDelco started selling cans of high temp brake lubricant, with a brush applicator on the cap. It contains PTFE a form of teflon and silicone but good up to 650 degrees C, that is hot.
And bless you little heart for putting wheel bearing grease inside the hub between the wheel bearings. As they get hot, the grease will migrate due to lower viscosity (Thinner) and run to the center of the cast hub, in this case is the rotor as well. Some is placed into the cap as well. Either way as long as someone checks them for movement. I have fish weigh scales in my tool box for setting the torque or “Lack” of torque as it was always faster to tighten the nut, spinning the rotor allows the bearing to self align finding home. Tighten to snug with moderate pressure while spinning, then back off until the first cotter pin hole aligns with the castle nut. Insert, bend, cut to leave 3/8th inch behind.
But, yes the OEM GM shop service manual shows installing the wear inductors on the trailing side, toward the front of the vehicle. This way you get that pleasing “Finger Nail” on a chalk board noise. Hey, loud radios sell lots of car parts.
The point of the audible wear indicators function is they make noise while driving when close to the rotor, but they stop squeaking when the brakes are applied. The wear indicator and pad become one solid unit when applied so the noise stops. I can go get the book but I am in the garage and the shop manual is in the office. I have several in the 80’s like Monte, El Co, Cutlas, and something else. Those years are a blur! Did you ever wonder where the year went, I had a dealer job, roped into a blind date, married, had two sons, 4 of my vehicles where totaled then one totaled his Tahoe, crap, now I am old.
Let’s build a time machine. Berkshire-Hathaway stock was $42.10 in 1970. Worth what, $516, 435.00 “A” stock in April 2022. Warren Buffet lives 9 miles from me, bigger house, but drives his own Cadillac.
Just think, if at $40+ change, and you bought $200 “A” shares, today you would be worth $2.582 million dollars in assets. I think I bought a 66 Yamaha 250cc twin scrambler for $200 that year. I bought the wrong thing.
But I like the videos & these trucks.
